reading and drinking : happy weekend.
What I’m Drinking Now
By MARIO BATALI
I have been searching for the proper fruit partner for a Campari and soda, which is an excellent step toward an afternoon pause. Golden plums provide the tart and tannic sweetness. I slice half a plum into paper-thin half-moons and let them sit in a gulp of Campari at the bottom of a tall glass in the sun for 20 minutes. I fill the glass with crushed ice and tonic (I prefer Fever Tree). Then I squeeze an orange wedge over it for a drink that would have made Dali’s watches shiver upright.
